FIVE WRECKS SITE – SUNDAY 14 APRIL 2024

Waves Shape

On Sunday 14 April 2024 five Thistle Divers decided to dive a site which the club had not done in many years. This site is called Five Wrecks, but the main one (and the only one we found) is the Cherokee Chief. It sits in just 10 – 12 metres of water about 100 metres out from the small headland point. Donald and Iain had the dubious privilege of going first and finding the wreck which they did and put a DSMB up. This was on the instructions of the Faslane Base which is directly opposite the site and who you have ot contact before diving in this area. It made the next two dives much easier as we just surface swam out to the DSMB and dropped down. Myself and Janet spent a very pleasant 35 minutes exploring the wreck. Donald was the only brave soul to go in for a second dive with Martin. Martin came out carrying a few trinkets for his dive including a small lamp. Definitely a site to do again. One neighbour was not too keen to have us parking there but she seemed to calm down when she realised we were not there to cause anyone any hassle.
