The Caves is a site I have a love/hate relationship with. I hate the entry and exit under the tunnel. It is slippy, uneven and steep. With full kit on I am always nervous going down and always completely knackered getting back up. Usually once underwater however it is worth it. Myself, Martin and Leo decided to give it a go on a chilly February Sunday morning. We met at the Esso Garage in Milton and transferred kit into 2 cars which is the limit of car parking space at the site and that is at a push. We managed to get parked and once kitted up managed the scramble down to the water edge. The dive itself was something of a disappointment as the viz was very poor. It is a site which is best with the sun coming through the water and highlighting all the interesting rock formations, but today it was very silty. We ventured down to 28 metres and had a 40 minute dive as a three. At this time of year everyone is usually happy with just one dive as the thought of a second when cold is not too appealing. We retired to the Village Inn for a well deserved cup of tea and crisps. Another fun day with Thistle Divers.
