On a damp, dreich Sunday morning at 7.30am 3 Thistle Divers, Andrew, Donald and Dougie, met up in Kirkintilloch and drove the club Jeep up to Loch Long to dive the Twin Piers. Unfortunately on the way up Dougie was not feeling too well so decided to sit out the dive and act as shore cover (probably colder than going in the water). Andrew and Donald had only planned one dive as it was cold, wet and poor visibility was expected. However, both were very pleasantly surprised and had a wonderful 57 minute dive to 19 metres. It was Donald’s first time diving the site and he thought it was excellent. He did very well to spot a conger eel hiding in the rocks but not so well to signal to Andrew he had 90 bar of air left when he actually had 140 bar! After the dive we paid a visit to Ardgarten Caravan Site Café just along the road for some very pleasant, bacon rolls and coffee. Autumnal diving at its best.
Donald and Dougie waiting to be fed.
